Summary: Policy Gap 7 is the Bench Marks Foundation’s latest study. It focuses on CSR and Mining, but in this case on one specific mining company: Lonmin. In this study we look at Lonmin’s reporting of itself over a period of around 10 years in its corporate Social Development Reports. It seems as if the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) discourse is all about reporting in order to be seen to be making progress. However, mining also has a number of disastrous side effects.
