Summary: This research documents the life of a small mining community in South Africa over the period of a number of years, with the study conducted from 2013 to 2016. We looked at how they lived before mining commenced, during the period of mining and after relocation (because of mining), and the aftermath. It highlights the various major role-players – in this case the specific community and different leaders in the area, the mine house (Anglo Platinum), the local authority, as well as the role of an NGO (The Bench Marks Foundation).
